On January 9-21, 2018, I will be touring the American West Coast with my friend and colleague of more than 25 years, the American composer and violinist Ruthie Dornfeld.

Over the years, Ruthie and I have toured with – and composed for – the trio American Café Orchestra (ACO) in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany and the USA. First with the Norwegian bassist Anders Hofset, and then with the Finnish bassist, flautist and Jew's harp player Tapani Varis.

In January, Ruthie and I take a small detour and go on stage as a duo, with a unique repertoire, predominantly consisting of music we have composed ourselves, or are composing along the way.

The tour consists of a handful of 'house concerts' held in private homes, where the hosts have for a long time built up a musical network of friends and acquaintances, all connoisseurs and specialists in acoustic music, people who are now invited to a special concert, to hear our latest compositions.

The tour ends with a concert and a few workshops at the small progressive Bellingham Folk Festival, along with a number of more or less local bands.

In addition to the duo Ruthie Dornfeld & Morten Alfred Høirup, the festival poster features a lot of fine songwriters, composers and musicians, including La Famille Léger, Queens Bluegrass, Margo Murphy & John Roberts and many more.
