In the middle of May I played a small handful of concerts in Denmark and Germany with the Danish duo Jensen & Bugge and the old American fiddler and accordion player Dwight Lamb from Onawa, Iowa.
On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, it was announced that Dwight will receive the prestigious Bess Lomax Hawes National Heritage Fellowship. It is the most prestigious award given to "Master Folk and Traditional Artists" in the USA.
Dwight has faithfully played and conveyed American as well as Danish folk music for what amounts to a lifetime, and it is great that someone has seen it and that he is being honored again for the great work he has done and is still doing at the age of 83 years!
You can hear excerpts from one of our concerts at folkBaltica in Flensburg via this link: www.deutschlandfunkkultur.de ...and you can read more about the price here: www.arts.gov/honors/heritage/fellows/dwightlamb, www.rigsspillemand.dk
