ACO was started in the early 1980s, and toured in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and the USA. In the period 1998 – 2011, the trio was understated while the musicians traveled all over the world with their respective projects.
In 2012, ACO celebrated its 20th anniversary in the current constellation, i.e. with American Ruthie Dornfeld on violin and vielle, Finnish Tapani Varis on Jew's harp, flute and bass and Høirup on guitar and vocals.
The three musicians started out by playing a mix of traditional and newly composed music, but now mainly concentrate on their own compositions.
ACO released its fourth album in 2012, and in that connection toured in e.g. Denmark, Germany and Finland. The trio played i.a. at the Haapavesi Folk Festival in Finland in the summer of 2014.
