In the days 28.6. – 5.7 2015 I performed at the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, which is held every year at the old military base Fort Worden in Port Townsend, in the state of Washington, on the American west coast.

It was a very nice experience with a multitude of workshops, music for dancing and not least concerts for thousands of people with the Danish trio, Lydom, Bugge & Høirup, who are currently on CD, and with my old friend and musical sparring partner , violinist Ruthie Dornfeld, who lives in Seattle and is rightly considered one of the local stars at the Festival. (See Youtube video with Lydom, Bugge & Høirup here)

Among the more established names at the festival, we met fine yet respectable people such as Rodney Miller and Sandy Bradley, Bruce Green and John Haywood, Lisa Ornstein, André Marchand and Normand Miron, Jamie Fox and many, many more.

All in all, a lovely, and by the way really warm week, at one of the most inspiring and well-arranged festivals that I have experienced, with this completely blissful mix of workshops, jam sessions, dance and concerts.

In the festival program, I am also referred to as "one of the world's most respected rhythm guitarists", and although that is probably a bit of an exaggeration, it is great to play at a festival where you announce yourself that way!

Incidentally, one of the big hits at the festival was "Ingelas Vals", which I wrote in 2008. It was fun to experience it played for dancing in the evening by a team of around 35 festival students, and to see how well it was received by dancers, musicians and listeners in general. Thanks to everyone involved for that experience, I hope there will be more of them in the years to come 🙂
