These days comes out the 45th episode of RadioFolk.dk's magazine program The Cat in the Sack, a program that I have developed in collaboration with Rosa – Dansk Rock Samråd and Go Danish Folk Music.
Oddly enough, we are talking about no less than the world's only radio program, with a focus on the current Danish roots and folk music scene, a program with interviews, reports, forewords, new releases, live recordings, and much more.
And of course the Cat in the Sack is a current affairs program that tells news about what is happening right now, but it actually also functions as important documentation of a time and a genre.
If in 10-20 years time someone should become curious about what actually happened on the Danish folk music scene during these years, then The Cat in the Sack is an exciting and unique source of knowledge, if the many episodes are still available on the internet by then.
The radio station RadioFolk.dk, is currently run by Rosa in collaboration with the folk and world music genre organisation, Tempi, and it is precisely on a special grant from Tempi that The cat in the sack and the program People Live can run until the end of 2017.
Until then, we'll have to see what happens - for now, the Cat in the Sack reports without delay from the many focal points of Danish folk music (ROD, Musik over Præstø Fjord, Tønder Festival, Danmarks Rigsspillemænd, etc.)
You can explore all 45 episodes of The cat in the sack, and much more on www.radiofolk.dk!
NOTE: The Cat in the Sack #45 from August 2017 offers interviews and music from Musik over Præstø Fjord Festival, and news about Folk Spot Denmark and Tønder Festival. Listen here: https://radiofolk.dk/katten-i-saekkenthe-cat-in-the-bag?sp=10355
